unnamedThe campus community is certainly a highlight of many people’s college experience—and Providence is no exception. The Student Life department works with the Student Senate and the Campus Activities Board to provide an exciting, holistic experience. Student Senate consists of elected members of the student body who support the mission of Providence, act as a channel of communication between students, faculty, and administration, and address the needs of the student body. Campus Activities Board (CAB) is a student-led organization which hosts major monthly events for the Providence community from Dive-In Movie Nights at the President’s backyard pool to the Mr. Providence contest each year.

Providence offers students a number of opportunities to become involved and each fall, they host a Student Activities fair. At Providence, you can work on publications, like the student-run newspaper, enjoy Intramural Sports like ultimate frisbee and sand volleyball, try out for the Providence Chamber Singers, or work with one of the campus ministries. Student Life also sponsors events throughout the year such as media fasts, concerts, and the Midnight Breakfast is an important start to any successful exam week.

A few of the full-status clubs include the Film Club, Ministry of Food, Students for Life, Drama Association, The Beggar Blade, Cycling Club and the Hiking Club. Students are invited and encouraged to start a club if they have an area of particular interest.

unnamed (1)In addition to the student clubs represented on campus at the fair, students were able to interact with pastors and youth pastors from 10 different area churches. These churches vary in worship styles and in how they care for college students, with everything from hosted Sunday lunches in church members homes to pizza every Sunday after church. Students at Providence are very highly encouraged to find a local church where they can be plugged into a community of believers each Sunday while attending college at Providence.
