Director of Athletics
Brian DeHaan is the Director of Athletic at Providence. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Azusa Pacific University, where he also competed in baseball, as well as a master’s degree in divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. He and his wife Libby reside in La Verne, California with their three sons: Casey (8), Reece (6), and Lincoln (1).
Previously, DeHaan was the Athletic Director at Maranatha Christian High School in Pasadena, and led the school to 83 league and six CIF championships and has helped hundreds of student-athletes continue to play at the college level. DeHaan also coached the girl’s softball and boy’s baseball teams, leading the baseball team to a CIF-SS championship in 2009. With nearly 20 years of coaching experience, as well as collegiate-level playing experience and directing high school athletics programs, DeHaan brings an in-depth understanding of what it takes to build a department of both athletic and academic excellence in an environment where God is central.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to shape the athletics program at Providence Christian College. The vehicle of athletics can break barriers and change lives,” says DeHaan. “I believe that we can build an incredible athletic program that will honor the Lord. The coaches at Providence are committed to excellence, and I’m looking forward to developing a unified culture.”
