Welcome from the President

Dear Students, Families, Alumni, Supporters, and Friends,

Welcome to Providence Christian College! Whether you are exploring our website for the first time or are already part of our growing community, I’m delighted to greet you and share a little about Providence.

While most colleges (even Christian ones) pursue knowledge outside of faith, a Providence education begins with being firmly grounded in biblical truth. A Latin phrase attributed to St. Augustine, “credo ut intelligam” (faith precedes understanding), aligns with God’s word in Proverbs 9:10: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Instead of professors who think they are smarter than God, our professors are committed to God’s word and nurturing students to grow in their faith. This is a living-learning reality, from the classrooms in Witherspoon Hall to the Providence Village, from chapels to academic lectures to conversations over meals, we look at “every square inch” of creation through the lens of scripture.

What makes Providence distinctive is our deep and joyful commitment to three core pillars:

A Deep Commitment to God’s Word

Rooted firmly in the historic Reformed tradition, Providence stands on the foundation of Scripture (sola scriptura) as summarized in the confessions of the Reformation. This theological clarity shapes both our academic pursuits and our community life, anchoring us in truth while equipping students to engage today’s world with wisdom and conviction.

An Intimate Living-Learning Environment

We believe that education thrives in close relationships. We are intentionally and unapologetically small, cultivating a close-knit residential college experience where professors know students deeply, with many living in the Providence Village or close to campus. In this setting, students are not only academically challenged but spiritually mentored.

A Love for the Classical Liberal Arts

Our curriculum is rooted in the classical liberal arts, designed to cultivate deep thinkers, persuasive communicators, and thoughtful servants of Christ. Guiding students how to learn deeply and think biblically prepares them to navigate the complexities of modern life with wisdom and virtue.

Whether you are a prospective student, a parent, or a supporter, I invite you to learn more about what God is doing here at Providence. Explore our website, come visit campus, and you will see how we are a community committed to biblical truth, academic excellence, and service for the glory of God.

In Christo Omnia Nova,
