Dr. Lawrence Mumford
Visiting Lecturer in Music
Dr. Mumford is Professor of Music Theory, Music History, Aural Skills, and Piano. He obtained his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from USC in 1989, and he has taught music at the university level since 1992. He has had music published by eight different companies, and his works include pieces for orchestra, chamber groups, film, choir, and voice (both classical and popular). Providence’s vision for unifying faith, academics, and the arts attracted Dr. Mumford to teach here. His favorite activity when he’s not doing music is sailing: he is a certified sailing instructor.
