Dan Newkirk
Visiting Lecturer in Natural Science
Born and raised in Southern California, Dan Newkirk received a B.S. in Biochemistry and B.A. in Biblical Studies from Biola University. He then went to complete his M.A. in Theology from Boston College, before pursuing Ph.D. studies in the Philosophy of Science and Religion at Boston University (A.B.D.). During his ten years in the Boston area, Dan taught several courses in the Philosophy and Religion departments at Boston College and Boston University. In 2010 he began teaching high school science courses at Boston Trinity Academy, where be served as science department chair and Dean of Students. He currently chairs the science department at Maranatha High School, teaching AP Biology, AP Physics 2, and AP Seminar. While in Massachusetts, Dan met and married his wife Erica, and they are about to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. They have two children ages 3 and 5. Dan enjoys extended travels in developing countries, staying active and outdoors, and consuming as many books of diverse genres as possible.
