Lecturer in History

Rev. Timothy R. Scheuers is lecturer in History at Providence Christian College. He was born in the Upper Midwest, but raised in Southern California (Inland Empire). Rev. Scheuers graduated from Providence Christian College in 2010, majoring in Biblical and Theological Studies and minoring in Biblical Languages and History. The son of a Reformed pastor, he also embraced a call to ministry and attended Mid-America Reformed Seminary (Dyer, IN), graduating with an M.Div. in 2013. Immediately following graduation, he returned to sunny SoCal to begin doctoral studies at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. A Ph.D. candidate majoring in Historical Theology, Rev. Scheuers is currently completing his dissertation on the topic of Oaths, Confessional Subscription, and the Binding of the Conscience during the Reformation. In addition to teaching at Providence, Rev. Scheuers serves as the Associate Pastor of the First United Reformed Church of Chino, Ca. He is a regular contributor to the Mid-America Journal of Theology, and has published book reviews in several peer-reviewed journals, including The Sixteenth Century Journal. He is married to another Providence graduate, Amanda Scheuers, née Schelbauer, who teaches at Ontario Christian Elementary School. On his occasional day off, Rev. Scheuers enjoys exploring God’s creation, reading good books, listening to and playing music, and rooting for his Green Bay Packers.
