One of the visions of the Providence Athletics Program is helping students learn by serving. The 2018-2019 academic year added a Student-Athlete Athletic Council (SAAC), whose mission is to unify and transform the community by living lives of service rooted in biblical standards to glorify Christ. This council spearheaded partnerships and events over the course of the year to encourage and push athletes
to serve outside of their comfort zone. Some of the community partnerships this year included childcare at Door of Hope for children of families who have experienced homelessness, serving breakfast at Union Station on Friday mornings, and spending time with teens and young adults with physical and intellectual disabilities.
Most recently, the Baseball team served with the Glendora Little League’s Challenger Division at Sandburg School Park, whose purpose is to allow special needs children the opportunity to compete in modified Little League baseball games. This movement of service has also been an inspiration to the Women’s Soccer program, who will be traveling on a short-term missions this August, to Costa Rica.
