The Providence Christian College (0-1, 0-0) volleyball team travelled to Vanguard University (1-0, 0-0) for the first match in school history on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. The Sea Beggars were paired against the #8 Vanguard Lions Tuesday evening at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California.

“We were all excited to build off a solid first match.” Said head coach Chris Chown.

The young group of Sea Beggars fought hard against the more experienced Lions. Providence was led by offensively five kills from Madeline Perez (San Antonio, TX, Corner Stone Christian High School). Heather Griepsma (Riverside, CA, Chaffey College) had a strong defensive showing adding three blocks.

Vanguard flexed their eighth ranked muscles and took the match by winning in three straight games (25-14, 25-10, and 25-7).

“The match went well. We played hard and won a lot of scrappy points. It was a good way to start our season and the program. We fought hard and look forward to the opportunity to learn from this experience.” Chown said.

The Sea Beggars are on the road for their next matches against Arizona Christian University and Marygrove College, both to be played at ACU on Thursday, August 20, 2015.
