Belcher-headshot-smaller2-405x425The campus of Providence Christian College is aflame with activity and ambition upon the arrival of Dr. Jim Belcher, who officially commenced his term as the third president of the College on July 1st 2014.

The Belcher family moved in their new home at Atchison Place, just a short walk from the campus, with the aid of a handful of Providence faculty, staff and students who turned out on June 13th to unpack the moving van. The Belchers continue to settle in even as they endure heavy construction on the presidential home as it receives much needed upgrades and repairs. The entire Providence community awaits eagerly to see Atchison Place become the center of a distinctive culture and community at the college.

Atchison-place-600x384The construction on the President’s home hasn’t deterred Dr. Belcher from actively taking charge of the future of Providence. Already in July, Dr. Belcher has met with the executive staff and various departments– getting acquainted with the workings of the college and challenging them to a renewed vision of purpose and mission. Two weeks ago, Dr. Belcher traveled to Boston to attend the week-long Harvard University Seminar for New Presidents with 49 other newly appointed senior executives.

In the year ahead Dr. Belcher will have a substantial task implementing his vision and leading Providence forward. To assist him, Ruby Bleeker, a capable alumna and former assistant in the development department at Providence has returned to be Dr. Belcher’s executive assistant. Her familiarity with the institution will insure Dr. Belcher’s presidency will have a successful start.
Plans are currently underway for the inauguration ceremony for Dr. Belcher on Saturday October 18, 2014, at 1:00 o’clock, at Lake Avenue Congregational Church in Pasadena. The inauguration is an open event and all constituents and friends of Providence are invited and encouraged to attend.
