Faculty & Staff Employment Opportunities

Every college and university has its unique set of expectations based on the values of the institution. As a Reformed Christian college Providence requires that staff and faculty meet particular confessional requirements by subscribing to the Three Forms of Unity and/or the Westminster Standards as described in the Vision of Providence Christian College. These expectations are not meant to be criteria by which to evaluate the quality of one’s Christian commitment; rather, they merely seek to communicate the positions that Providence has taken and expects its faculty to support. Questions for clarification, application, or exceptions are welcome.

Faculty Positions

Applicants for all faculty positions should be in accordance with Providence employment expectations for faculty enumerated in the application for employment. Links to a statement of employment expectations and instructions in the application process can be found on this page.

Providence also welcomes inquiries from applicants in other disciplines for a pool of qualified lecturers. Qualified candidates should hold an M.A. in the discipline taught or a closely related area. PhD and/or teaching experience preferred. Applicants should be able to give evidence of Christian commitment and adherence to the Reformed confessions. Only complete applications will be considered. Adjunct Instructor of Fundamental Principles of Health Professions

Reporting to the Dean of Academics, the Adjunct Instructor of Fundamental Principles of Health Professions will:

  • Teach a 4 credit lecture course
  • Design the syllabus for the course (sample syllabi of previous courses are available)
  • Evaluate student work promptly

Minimum Qualifications

Must meet our standard minimum requirements of at least a Master’s degree in a discipline within the sciences by the time of hire.

Instructional Technologist

JOB DESCRIPTION

Providence is seeking an energetic, service-oriented, self-starter with a passion for the mission and vision of Providence. This position will report to and work with the Student Excellence Center Director. The Instructional Technologist plays a crucial role in designing and delivering leadership, professional and skill-based training opportunities for faculty and staff. The Instructional Technologist will utilize a variety of media and technologies to enhance learning and delivery of education, as well as assess and recommend new curriculum based on the demands of academic programs, advancement of technology, and to meet the needs of the student populations served..

RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS

  • Consults with faculty to plan and design instructional technology and media applications which may include accommodations for individuals with mobility, hearing, visual, and/or learning impairments.
  • Designs, installs, and tests new instructional technology solutions, coordinating with other departments as needed.
  • Trains and supports faculty or other users of instructional tools or equipment, and maintains user documentation.
  • Promotes use of instructional technology by maintaining knowledge of best practices in instructional technology and by providing training and information on instructional technology methods and trends to others.
  • Developing computer training materials and teaching educators how to set up and use computer applications and technologies.
  • Gathering and interpreting information about the effectiveness of a program and providing input in the program evaluation.
  • Identifying new hardware and software programs that could benefit specific learning environments.
  • Troubleshooting issues with hardware or software applications.
  • Supporting the use of computers in classrooms.
  • Auditing the college’s current technology to find opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicating with college representatives about the benefits of specific technologies over others.
  • Collaborating with college representatives and IT team members.
  • Updating platforms and devices to meet changing student and educator needs.
  • Creates and maintains project plans and budgets for large-scale instructional technology initiatives.
  • Develops and writes programs relating to the use of computer-based instructional technology and related systems.
  • May assist with mounting, hookup, adjustment, operation, and physical maintenance of instructional technology equipment.
  • May provide general IT user support.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS with experience or a Master’s degree in a related field
  • Proven experience in instructional technology, or a related area
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of technological industry trends and educational program demands
  • Experience in program development and management.
  • Familiarity with administration of educational technology and best practices
  • Collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, and employers.

This position will directly report to and work with the Dean of Student and Athletic Affairs to promote Providence Christian College, communicate with and serve its constituents. The ideal candidate will develop, maintain, and administer all aspects of the Providence volleyball program. Along with the standard coaching responsibilities of running practice and coaching during competitions, this position requires annual budget development (in conjunction with the Dean of Student and Athletic Affairs), recruiting, building relationships with student-athletes and strategic partners, in-season and off-season scheduling, and promoting the sport to the broader community.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS

  • Train athletes to be ready to compete at the collegiate level.
    • Establish off-season training/development/maintenance schedule. Hold students accountable to both training standards and institutional standards.
    • Plan and personally conduct training and sport specific practices for athletes throughout the year.
    • Motivate students to improve their performance both on and off the court.
    • Work in collaboration with the athletic trainer to ensure safe methods, proper rehabilitation from injuries, and return to play/learn protocols are implemented and followed.
  • Coach effectively during competitions
    • Set up in-season schedules in strategic, competitive manner.
    • Schedule transportation, accommodations and all aspects of travel to and from competitions.
    • Be an effective communicator and demonstrate the ability to motivate and inspire those he/she leads.
  • Sport Administration
    • Attend department meetings to provide input to the Dean of Student and Athletic Affairs and fellow coaches.
    • Schedule games, practices, and other team functions.
    • Schedule transportation, accommodations, and all aspects of travel to and from competition including travel itineraries.
    • Stay current on professional resources for your sport (e.g. websites, conferences, magazines, etc.)
    • Manage the budget for your specific sport and submit expense reports in a timely manner to the Dean of Student and Athletic Affairs.
    • Work in collaboration with the director of athletics and/or compliance officer to ensure athletic eligibility of your student-athletes.
    • Hold regular office hours.
  • Promote your sport to the local community.
    • Work in collaboration with the sports information director to assist in the writing and cultivating of stories, ensure statistics are accurate, report on game results, and implementation of social media to promote Providence volleyball.
    • Participate in the athletics fundraisers (golf tournament, etc.).
    • Connect with local coaches and Christian high schools to regularly update them on the progress of the sport.
    • Implement service projects both on and off campus to develop community and promote your sport (e.g. youth sport clinics, volunteering at sporting events, etc.)
    • Active participation in the life of Providence Christian College, including weekly chapels, opportunities to lead campus devotionals, convocation, senior celebration, graduation, etc.
  • Recruit student athletes.
    •  Initiate, monitor and cultivate relationships with target high schools and their athletes to identify prospective students.
    • Connect with high school coaches to build a network and athlete leads.
    • Initiate, monitor and cultivate relationships with club directors, tournaments, and other potential feeders.
    • Document and report on recruiting efforts to the director of athletics
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; those with graduate education will be given preference.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a similar environment.
  • Fluency in English; intermediate technology skills with word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Authentic Christian faith and worldview consistent with the College’s Mission Statement in which all employees are required to sign to affirm.
