Joanna Schiestl

Adjunct Instructor of Sociology

Joanna Schiestl holds a multidisciplinary degree from Liberty University and a masters degree in Intercultural Studies from Columbia International University. She spent 5 years living in Indonesia, involved in tsunami disaster relief and community development, as well as teaching History, Geography, and Literature at Singapore International School in Medan. She is pursuing her doctorate at Cal Poly Pomona.

Prior to joining the Providence team, Joanna spent years involved in curriculum development and worked at a resettlement office welcoming refugees as they arrived in America. She delights in Jesus, in exploring the wildly diverse cultures of the earth, and in seeing ideas become reality. Outside of work she is involved in foster parenting and volunteer teaching English to international students.
