Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees includes members from a variety of Reformed denominations who share a commitment to confessional Christian higher education. Current Providence Board Members

Duane Bulthuis Ripon, CA
Duane is a partner of Croce & Company Accountancy Corporation and has over 20 years of experience in public accounting. Duane graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from Calvin College and received his Master’s degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. He attends Zion United Reformed Church (URC) in Ripon and serves as a Catechism and Sunday school teacher in his community.

Brad Burke Poway, CA
Brad is an accomplished architect. He and his wife Honey attend New Life Presbyterian (PCA). They have three grown children. Brad is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Rev. David Crum Fallbrook, CA
Dave Crum is the regional home missionary (designated church planter) for the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Southern California. He and his wife Jane have four grown children. The youngest two are graduates of Providence. Dave holds a M.Div. from Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.

Henry De Jager Chino, CA
Henry holds a B.A. in Psychology from California State University at Long Beach and recently retired from a career in information technology at Southern California Edison (SCE). He is currently a member of CrossPoint Christian Reformed Church (CRC) in Chino. Henry is married to his wife, Nancy, and they have two adult children.

Charles De Groot Nampa, ID
Charles and his wife, Janice, own a family dairy farm business and are active members of the United Reformed Church of Nampa (URC). Both Charles and Janice are strong supporters of Christian education, and have offered Biblical guidance, encouragement, and support to Providence Christian College since it’s founding.

Mary Ellen Godfrey Escondido, CA
Mary Ellen is the retired Academic Liason Officer for Providence Christian College where she also served as the Academic Dean during the early years of the school.  Mary Ellen and her husband Robert are members of Escondido United Reformed Church and have three grown children.

Doreane Huizenga Ontario, CA
Doreane Huizenga along with her husband Paul is the owner of Huizenga Dairy in Ontario, CA. Doreane and Paul have five grown children and are members of Ontario United Reformed Church.

John Jansen Chino, CA
John Jansen is the Western Regional Manager at Eaton.  He and his wife Nancy are members of CrossPoint Christian Reformed Church in Chino, CA.  They have three grown children. John is a graduate of Dordt College and also holds a B.S.EE from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Ellen Korthuis Lynden, WA
Ellen and her husband Scott have three children and are members of Lynden United Reformed Church. Since 1998, Ellen has volunteered over 15 hours weekly managing a $3 million scrip program to make Christian education affordable for struggling families.

Mark Mansour Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Mark graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Mark is the co-founder of the National Telecommunications of Florida, The Christian Community Foundation of South Florida, and The Florida Family Policy Council. Mark and his wife, Sharon, have four children and attend Rio Vista Community Church (PCA).

Dayan Mathai Los Angeles, CA
Dayan holds a B.A. in Communications and Public Relations from Biola University, as well as a J.D. from The CUA Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C. He is a Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County and has served in the LA District Office’s Organized Crime Division for nearly 18 years. As a member and community group leader at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach (RPC), Dayan also serves as a board member of the India Evangelical Mission.

Dr. Larry McHargue South Pasadena, CA
Larry McHargue is a semi-retired professor of botany. He served on the Providence board for many years and teaches a class or two at Providence each year. He and his wife Lynne have three adult children and are longtime members of Calvary OPC in La Mirada, CA. Larry is a graduate of Occidental College, holds an M.S. from Cal State Los Angeles and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine.

Pete Nanninga Chino, CA
Pete is a loan officer for Wells Fargo in the Inland Empire. Pete and his wife Sandra have three grown children and are members of First United Reformed Church of Chino. Pete is a graduate of Calvin College.

Dr. Brannin Pitre Pasadena, CA
Dr. Pitre is a PCA Church Planter with Redeemer City to City North America. In 2008, Brannin and his family planted Grace Pasadena, a church that is committed to the vision and ministry of gospel-centered, missional, urban church planting. Brannin is married to his wife, Tanya, and they have three children.

John Schwandt Bellingham, WA
John is the Executive Director of Logos Mobile Education at Faithlife.

John Thiesens Long Beach, CA
John is the President of Carson Supply Co., Inc. John and his wife Judy have two adult children and are members of Christ Reformed Church (URC) in Anaheim, CA. John is a graduate of Cal State Long Beach.

Geoffrey Vanden Heuvel Chino, CA
Geoff was a founding board member of Providence Christian College. He and his wife Darlene own a dairy in Chino, CA and attend First United Reformed Church of Chino (URC). Geoff and Darlene have four adult children, the youngest two are Providence graduates.

Ron Verhoeven Corcoran, CA
Ron and his wife Bev own a dairy in the Central Valley and are members of Trinity United Reformed Church in Visalia, CA. They have four adult children.
