Fine Art (21-22 credit hours)
The Fine Art program explores the diverse realm of fine art in an interdisciplinary program that combines studio art practice with theory and history. Students pursuing this concentration will receive rigorous one-on-one instruction in the foundation skills of drawing and painting, and will also be given the freedom to create their own personal body of work. The focus is on imagination and discipline, experimentation and critical thinking to engage with the world of fine art from a Reformed Christian perspective.
Mission Statement:
The Fine Art program of Providence Christian College exists to enable students to create original works of art and to appreciate and critically examine the history and philosophy of art from a Reformed Christian perspective.
Concentration Learning Outcomes:
Students who complete the fine art concentration will be able to:
1. Create original artwork that expresses the unique personal vision of the student and present a final show of original artwork that will be open to the school and the public.
2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the history and central theories of Fine Art.
3. Articulate central issues in the philosophy of aesthetics and the appreciation of Fine Art and a Reformed Christian perspective as it relates to historical and contemporary theories and concepts on Fine Art.
