Belz-familyProvidence is pleased to announce that Max Belz has been hired as the new director of experiential learning. The position merges experiential learning responsibilities and new programs the college is launching this fall. The primary responsibility will be to develop and execute all aspects of the college’s signature Avodah Experience Program. Providence is also adding a new First Year Experience (FYE) program, which focuses on the development of new students. Additionally, Belz will develop a more comprehensive community relations program, including establishing and maintaining relationships with Reformed churches, youth groups and their pastors, and the local city and community groups.

Max has been an employee of Providence since 2010, when he served as an admissions counselor and later as the associate director of admissions. In the past year, Max has continued to work for Providence on a part-time basis doing recruitment work in Michigan and assisting the college’s marketing efforts. Max brings to his position a passion for liberal arts higher education, a love of Los Angeles, deep connections with various constituents in Southern California, and heart for mentoring students.

Max, his wife Emily (a 2012 graduate of Providence), and their son Otis are excited to return to California and the Providence community on July 15, 2014 in a full time capacity. “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the director of experiential learning,” Belz said. “I look forward to working closely with the students and administration as we further develop the college programs to better educate our students and serve the local community for years to come.”
